Commercial mechanical, HVAC and fire protection contractors with 5+ technicians

ServiceTrade is built for commercial service contractors, especially mechanical, HVAC and fire protection, and users rate it well for ease of use and support. Built for commercial service
Aimed at commercial mechanical, HVAC, fire protection and life safety, electrical, refrigeration and kitchen exhaust contractors, not residential home services.
Fire inspections
NFPA-compliant digital inspection forms, deficiency capture with photos, and a deficiency to quote to repair workflow, with reports to The Compliance Engine on the fire protection Premium plan.
Service Link and customer portal
Customers get an online report after each visit with photos, notes and found deficiencies. The Premium customer portal adds service requests, quote approval and online payment.

QuickBooks on every plan, plus Sage Intacct, Sage 300 CRE, Sage 100 Contractor, NetSuite, Acumatica, Viewpoint Vista, Spectrum and more. Some integrations carry setup or partner fees.
AI tools
Stella AI agents, Smart Assistants and Trade Intelligence help with quotes, scheduling and collections. ServiceTrade doesn't say whether AI costs extra.

Who ServiceTrade is for

ServiceTrade is field service software for commercial contractors. Its two core markets are mechanical/HVAC and fire protection and life safety, and its pricing page also covers electrical, refrigeration and kitchen exhaust cleaning. It says it has more than 1,300 customers. The company was founded in 2012 in Durham, North Carolina.

If you mostly serve homeowners, it's the wrong tool: everything about it, from inspections to customer reports for facility managers, is aimed at commercial accounts.

What you get

The core platform covers quoting, scheduling and dispatch, invoicing, technician timecards, reporting and a technician app that records equipment history, photos, signatures and inspection forms. Two features stand out for commercial work:

  • Service Link sends the customer an online report after each visit, with photos, notes and any deficiencies found, which turns findings into quote opportunities.
  • Inspections for fire and life safety use NFPA-compliant forms and track each deficiency from inspection to repair quote.

Add-ons and higher plans bring a customer portal, project management, parts and inventory (PartsManager) and estimating and proposals (SalesManager). In 2026 ServiceTrade also bought Mura, an AI tool for billing and collections.

Pricing

ServiceTrade publishes no prices. Its three plans, Select, Premium and Enterprise, all say "Request pricing". What it does say:

  • Price depends mainly on the number of technicians.
  • Office users are unlimited on every plan.
  • There's no free trial; you go through a demo.

The official page doesn't mention setup fees or contract length, and the integrations page says some integrations carry setup, implementation or partner fees. G2 reviewers report about 2 months to implement. Ask for all of that in writing.

Strengths

  • Purpose-built for commercial service and fire inspections, not adapted from a residential tool.
  • Unlimited office users, which helps shops with big dispatch and billing teams.
  • Customer-facing reports and a portal that facility managers can use.
  • A long list of accounting integrations, including Sage, Vista, Spectrum and NetSuite.
  • Strong user ratings for ease of use and support.

Where it's weaker

  • No public prices and no trial, so comparison shopping takes sales calls.
  • Setup and custom workflows take time, and forms and reports have limited customization.
  • Mobile app reviews mention glitches after updates and spotty offline sync.
  • Not a fit for residential shops or one- and two-person crews.

ServiceTrade vs BuildOps and ServiceTitan

All three target commercial contractors and all three are quote-only, but they count differently: ServiceTrade prices mainly by technician with unlimited office users, ServiceTitan prices per technician, and BuildOps charges per user, office staff included. BuildOps and ServiceTitan lean further into construction projects; ServiceTrade is the most service- and inspection-focused. Our BuildOps alternatives guide compares them side by side.

How we checked

We haven't used ServiceTrade hands-on yet. This review is based on ServiceTrade's pricing, product and integrations pages, its App Store and Google Play listings, and Capterra, Software Advice and G2, all checked on November 3, 2026. See how we review software.

Bottom line

ServiceTrade is a strong, well-rated choice for commercial mechanical and fire protection contractors with five or more techs and a busy office, especially if inspections and customer reports matter. Frequently asked questions

How much does ServiceTrade cost?
ServiceTrade doesn't publish prices. Its pricing page says cost is driven mainly by the number of technicians, every plan includes unlimited office users, and you get a number after a demo. Software Advice lists plans as starting at 5 technicians. We found no reliable public dollar figure, so ask for a written quote at your headcount, including any setup and integration fees.
Does ServiceTrade have a free trial?
No. ServiceTrade sells through a demo with its sales team; there's no self-serve trial or free version.
What's the difference between ServiceTrade Select, Premium and Enterprise?
Select covers dispatch, the technician app, equipment history, deficiency capture, online quotes and QuickBooks. Premium adds the customer portal, project management and budgets, timecards, subcontract management and AI features. Enterprise adds parts and inventory, recurring contract pricing, multi-region operations and a capacity planner.
Is ServiceTrade good for fire protection companies?
Yes, it's one of its two core markets. It has NFPA-compliant inspection forms, deficiency tracking from inspection to repair quote, recurring inspection schedules and, on Premium, The Compliance Engine (BRYCER) integration.
What do users say about ServiceTrade?
It scores 4.6 out of 5 from 345 reviews on Capterra and 4.5 from 59 on G2 (checked November 3, 2026). Reviewers like the ease of use, scheduling and support. Common complaints are a learning curve during setup, limited form customization, occasional mobile glitches and clunky QuickBooks invoicing. Software Advice notes that some reviews came from users ServiceTrade invited with a small incentive.
Is the ServiceTrade app good?
The technician app has 4.1 stars from 587 ratings on the App Store and 4.1 on Google Play. Recent Google Play reviews mention glitches with photos and comments after updates, so test it with your techs during the demo.
What are the best ServiceTrade alternatives?
BuildOps and ServiceTitan's commercial suite are the closest commercial rivals; both are quote-only. Service Fusion publishes its prices and includes unlimited users. Jobber suits smaller shops that don't need commercial depth. See our BuildOps alternatives guide for a side-by-side.
